You may contact Tom Ellis, President of United Methodist Men, if you have questions.

The men meet every Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. in room 703 of Wesley Hall for breakfast, fellowship, Bible study, and singing of favorite hymns. All men at Coker are invited to attend. The menu varies with everything from eggs and bacon to breakfast tacos. No one leaves hungry. The meeting ends at 7:30 to allow folks to get to work or to other activities for the day. Among the causes supported were: Habitat For Humanity, Methodist Children’s Home, Christian Assistance Ministry, KAIROS Prison Ministry, Coker Scholarships, San Antonio Rescue Mission, Haven for Hope, and Bethany Homeless Shelter.

Gathering of the Women

Each October the United Methodist Women (UMW) host the Gathering of the Women for all UMW members in the district. The UMM act as servers for this dinner to show their support for the women.

Cokerfest

Each November the United Methodist Women conduct Cokerfest, a craft fair, as a way to raise funds for their mission projects. The UMM assist them in a number of ways such as setting up the booth areas, traffic directions, and take down and cleanup at the end. UMM also provide other assistance to the women as needed.

Cold Weather Shelter at Bethany United Methodist Church

The UMM partner with Bethany UMC by providing the food and the persons to prepare it for the Cold Weather Shelter. The shelter is open for homeless individuals on any evening during the winter when the forecast is for the temperature to drop below freezing. UMM has been supporting this ministry for the last 6 years with funds made available from the Harvest Classic Golf Tournament. UMM with a heart for service go to the shelter in the morning and prepare a hot breakfast for all the guests. We are always looking for individuals who are willing to cook and serve breakfast.

Grill Your Own

As an opportunity for fellowship  for those who cannot attend the Monday breakfast, the UMM hold Grill Your Own Events from time to time at 6:30 on Thursday evening. The focus of this meeting is for men to gather for fellowship. Specific details are provided in the Courier and the Coker Connection.

Sacred Harp Dinner

The Sacred Harp singing convention convenes at Coker over a weekend each February. To support this activity the UMM prepare Sunday dinner for the attendees. This is an opportunity to fellowship with individuals from all over the country and even from foreign destinations.

Wounded Warrior Dinner

Each August the UMM partner with the UMW to provide dinner at Ft. Sam Houston for Wounded Warriors and their families.
