Lent and Holy Week at Coker
Lenten Study
Wednesdays, February 17 - March 30
Two options: 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Both classes in Wesley 703
To help focus our spiritual lives as we turn to the season of Lent, Pastor Damon is offering our Lenten study this year. Using the book Bread in the Wilderness, we will look at the ways people find "bread," that is, spiritual sustenance, during times that appear to be wilderness. Each of the seven lessons includes readings, Scripture, questions for discussion, and a reflection.
The cost of the workbook is $8. Please register in the church office and pick up your book early so you can read the first chapter before class begins. Come join us!
Palm/Passion Sunday
March 28
All children are invited to wave palms and join in the celebration at all services! In the Sanctuary, shouts of "Hosanna" begin worship as children process waving palms. The Agape Choir leads music at 8:15 AM, and the Chancel Choir at 9:30 and 11:0 AM. In the Upper Room at 11:00, the Celebrate Band leads worship with palms for children.

Walk the Labyrinth During Holy Week
The Spiritual Enrichment Ministry invites you to walk the labyrinth in Wesley 703/704 any time from 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 1 until Friday night after the Good Friday service. Walking the labyrinth clears the mind and gives insight into the spiritual journey. It calms people in the struggles of life transition and provides a time for thanking and praising God. This experience is different for everyone because each of us has unique hopes, dreams, history, and longings of the soul.
Maundy Thursday

Good Friday
April 2
Good Friday commemorates the events of that long-ago Good Friday and prepares us for Christ's resurrection on Easter Day. This service will include the reading of the Passion narrative from the Gospel of John. The Chancel Choir, members of the Coker Orchestra, and soloists will offer movements from Requiem by John Rutter. Other service music will by offered by New Star Shining. The service ends in darkness, and the Sanctuary will be stripped of adornment, symbolizing for Christians the despair and desolation of Christ's death.
