Young adults, youth, men & women of all ages and spiritual stages are invited to spend "a day apart" on Saturday, August 28 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM in Wesley 703/704. This retreat is designed with opportunities to integrate prayer and art. Using art as a spiritual discipline will engage us in seeing God, each other, and the world around us in new ways. Various art forms will become aids to praying and enhancing our spiritual vision.
The goal of this day apart will not be to produce works of art and instead will give attention to the process and discipline of art as it aids our practice of prayer. Art can be a metaphor for the spiritual journey. It is a process, not a product, and a true spiritual discipline. As a process, it is a creative act that recalls who we are called to be in God. Participants in this contemplative prayer day will not need to have any previous artistic ability or experience. Art supplies, snacks, lunch & drinks will be furnished.
You may register the weekends of August 7 & 8, August 14 & 15, and August 21 & 22 in the Gazebo and near the entrance to the Chapel and The Upper Room before and after all the worship services. The fee of $25 is due at registration, and participation is limited to 30. Confidential scholarships are available by contacting Carmen Thompson, carmennealthompson@att.net. or 481-7199. For child care reservations, call 494-3455, ext. 245. This prayer opportunity is offered by Coker Spiritual Enrichment ministries as a means of grace and deeper spiritual growth. ![]() |
