Welcome to Coker United Methodist Church! We hope that you will want to know more about Coker and consider joining in membership with us. Traditional services are on Saturday at 5:00 PM in the historic Coker Chapel.  Sunday services are at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary. Guest Information

  • We welcome you to Coker United Methodist Church.
  • Sunday School for all ages (children, youth and adult) is available at 9:30 AM, and for adults at 11:00 AM. Lists of classes are available at the Welcome Booth, or click here.
  • Nursery Care is provided for all worship services and is located in Gym 701.
  • Children’s Corner in the Narthex - get your coloring pages, crayons, pipe cleaners and more for the kids.
  • Large Print Hymnals and hearing-assist stations are available from the ushers.
  • Upper Room devotional booklets are available in the entrance to all worship areas. 
  • On Sunday morning, visit our Welcome Booth in the Narthex for more information about upcoming events and Coker UMC ministries.


Weekends at a glance...


Services usually last about an hour. Communion is offered every Sunday at the 8:00 AM service and on the first Sunday of each month in all other services.  


Sunday mornings at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 AM in the main Sanctuary. Saturday evenings at 5:00 PM in the historic Coker Chapel. 

Traditional worship services are at 8:00 and 11:00 AM in the main Sanctuary. These services feature traditional and special music with piano, organ and choir. A contemporary worship service is conducted at 9:30 AM in the Upper Room (2nd Floor of the Gibbs Building).This service is an energetic combination of praise music, along with traditional worship elements. Rios de Gracia, a worship service En Espanol is conducted at 11:00 AM in the Upper Room (2nd Floor of the Gibbs Building). The Saturday evening Chapel service is a traditional worship service with conventional hymns on piano and organ. 


Special-needs parking and visitor parking are available in the parking lot just outside the sanctuary and Upper Room. A shuttle is also available to transport guests from the lower parking lot to the sanctuary or Upper Room. The greeters at the Welcome Center can answer any questions you might have.



A staffed welcome center is located just outside the sanctuary.  Information on our church and many of its ministries is available here.



As you enter any of our worship spaces, ushers are available to assist you with any questions or special needs regarding seating, hearing assist devices, or other requests.  Should you need help during a service, feel free to go to an usher to request assistance.



Large-print hymnals and hearing-assist stations are available in the chapel and sanctuary.


At the beginning of each of our services, the congregation is given a time to greet one another.  We welcome you to use this time to introduce yourself to those around you.


Dress however you see fit.  At Coker, you will see everything from blue jeans to three-piece suits.

Children’s activity booklets are available for all services. A quiet/cry room is available in the back of the sanctuary.  Child care is provided in the nursery for Saturday and Sunday worship services, Emmaus, Bible studies, adult choir, AA, Al-Anon, S-Anon, and a variety of other events.  If you need to make a reservation for another event, you can call the church office, fill out a nursery request form here, or stop by and meet our nursery staff.


The 11:00 Sanctuary service features a special time for children just before the sermon.  


In addition to Sunday School in the morning, youth (6th-12th grades) can participate in Student Ministry fellowship, with Bible studies, youth events and summer activities, as well as Sunday night when school is in session.
