Women's Ministry at Coker United Methodist Church

Join Coker's United Methodist Women!

PURPOSE:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

All women, church members or not, are welcome to attend any or all meetings of United Methodist Women. Baby-sitting/Nursery service during the meetings is available free of charge at the church. Reservations are required. Contact Jen Hodges at 210-748-6795 or fill out a Nursery Request form.

COKERFEST

Cokerfest, our annual Arts and Craft Fair, is in November. Check back here later for more information. In the meantime, vendors can download the Vendor Registration Form here.

CIRCLES

There are several circles to meet the needs of Coker women:

J.O.Y.: Women from all stages of life, including those with school age children. Their studies help them grow spiritually and service projects keep them active in the church community. This circle meets the first Tuesday of the month. Next meeting: Tuesday, March 6th at 9:30 AM in Wesley Hall Room 802.

Quilters: These ladies work all year to create a special quilt for Cokerfest to raise funds for missions. The ladies also have the opportunity to share quilting information and fellowship. They meet on the second and fourth Thursday afternoons. TNext meeting: Thursday, February 23 at 1:00 PM in Wesley 805.

Sharing and Caring/L.I.F.E.: Women who come for varied programs and share in fellowship with prayers, concerns, and a light lunch. This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. They do not meet in the summer months. Next meeting: Tuesday, March 6th at 10:00 AM in Wesley Hall Room 703/704.

Reflections: This group of women meets for fellowship, study, and service with a variety of programs each month. They usually meet at the church, but occasionally meet in the home of a member. They also continue to meet during the summer months at a local restaurant for lunch. They meet on the third Thursday of each month. Next meeting: Thursday, February 16th at 9:30 AM in Wesley 703/704.

Faith and Hope: This circle is for those women who work or can only attend at night. Their focus is service, study and fellowship. They meet on the second Tuesday evening of each month. Next meeting: Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 PM in Wesley Hall Room 806.

Care Cap: This circle is for women who serve through sewing. This is an all day meeting, so bring a sewing machine and a brown bag lunch if you can stay. Next meeting: Tuesday, February 21 at 9:30 AM in Gibbs Room 1108.

GENERAL MEETINGS

There are General Meetings each month, September through May. A variety of programs are presented, followed by a light lunch for all UMW, hosted by circles.

Haiti: Challenges and Hope

Tuesday, March 13

10:00 AM - 2:30 PM in Wesley 703/704

This is our mission study focusing on Haiti. Leanne Estes and Carolyn Smith are the study leaders. Please note this as an extended meeting time. Plan to stay as long as you can. We will break for a light lunch around noon and resume afterwards. Sharing and Caring circle will host.

Other events:

March 24: San Antonio District UMW hosts a spiritual growth event, "Time Apart", 9:00-1:00 at Windcrest UMC. Former SWTX Conference UMW President, Sue Sidney leads this program titled, "Dancing with God". Make reservations with Balia Kahl at 210-648-7438 by March 16th.

March 30 - 31: Canyon Lake UMW presents their 14th Annual Women's Retreat at Genesis Ranch near Canyon Lake. They have invited our Senior Pastor, Barbara Galloway, to be the spiritual leader. Registration deadline is March 23. More information can be obtained in the Coker church office or from Canyon Lake UMC at 830-899-7104.
